This year has been pivotal for the UK TV production industry. Amid a challenging financial landscape, marked by a significant shortfall and substantial reductions in broadcaster commissioning budgets, the sector as a whole has faced immense pressures. Independent production companies, which are the lifeblood of this industry, have felt the weight of these challenges most acutely, with many adapting, merging, or evolving to weather the storm. Freelancers, too, have faced unprecedented unemployment levels, underscoring the critical need for resilience and support across the entire ecosystem.

This year, we were proud to launch our new scripted department, expanding our expertise and service offerings to support our clients’ evolving needs better. Additionally, we welcomed Jamie Fewster as our Head of Safety. With over 20 years of experience in health and safety for TV and Film, Jamie’s leadership and knowledge bring unparalleled value to our team and clients, supporting our retained safety, scripted and unscripted teams, enhancing our commitment to safety and excellence on every project.

We also made a significant investment in redefining safety with the launch of ORA, our new online risk assessment platform. ORA’s advanced features empower our retained safety clients to shift their approach to compliance, making the process simpler and more resource-efficient. This innovative platform reflects our dedication to modernising safety standards and supporting our clients’ operational success.

Despite these headwinds, there are promising signs of recovery. Increased commissioning of both scripted and unscripted shows, along with renewed investment from major platforms, signals a gradual stabilisation of the market. As the industry evolves, we are fully committed to adapting and growing alongside you, ensuring we deliver value that supports your success.
